AI in Education is an immersive Erasmus+ professional development course designed to equip educators with the tools and confidence to integrate AI meaningfully into teaching and learning. Hosted in the heart of Finland—renowned for its world-leading education system—you will explore the possibilities and challenges AI brings to the classroom. Through hands-on experiences, insightful discussions, and inspiring local insights, you will discover how AI can empower both educators and students to thrive in the digital age.

This course is designed for teachers, educators, and education professionals across all levels who are interested in integrating AI into their practice and exploring forward-thinking pedagogies from Finland.
The course is led by Matleena Laakso, an experienced educator, author, and digital learning expert from Finland. Matleena specializes in educational technology, AI literacy, and digital storytelling, and is known for her engaging and practical training style.
This is a provisional programme, the finalized program will be shared with participants prior to the course.
Day 1, Sunday

- Introduction to AI: possibilities, challenges and recommendations for education
- AI literacy: what we need to know when using and teaching AI?
- Setting up digital portfolios, individually or as a group

Day 3, Tuesday

- Getting started with AI: Learning to use basic or advanced tools for text, images and more.
12.00 Lunch
13.00 Afternoon session
- Exploring AI tools and resources for educators: planning teaching, drafting materials, promoting accessibility etc.
15.00 End of Day. Time for portfolios, discussions and getting to know Helsinki metropolitan area.
15.00 Optional: Visit to the National Library of Finland and Helsinki City museum.

- AI and practical classroom activities
- Empowering pupils and students with AI
12.00 Lunch
13.00 Afternoon session & field trips
- Learning assignments in the era of AI.
- Your own learning assignment that can take you to Suomenlinna or other islands in archipelago or somewhere else…
15.00 or after your field trip: End of Day and time for portfolios and discussions.
Day 5, Thursday
9.00 Morning session
- Creating digital learning materials with AI: visualizations, podcast, slides, games and more.
12.00 Lunch
13.00 Afternoon session
- Group-driven focus on AI
15.00 End of Day. Time for portfolios, discussions and getting to know Helsinki metropolitan area.
Day 6, Friday
9.00 Morning session
- The possibilities of versatile Adobe Express: creating and editing images, co-creating infographics, animating characters etc.
- Some alternative tools for generating music or videos will also be introduced for those more advanced or eager to learn more.
12.00 Lunch
13.00 Afternoon session
- Highlights from portfolios
- Walking to WeeGee with some tastes of forest on the way
- Guided tour at Exhibition Centre WeeGee (six museums and exhibitions)
Day 7, Saturday
9.00 Morning session at Oodi Helsinki’s Central Library and nearby locations
- Final reflection session
- Getting to know Oodi by playing
- Feedback and course certificates
